Students in Year 9 continue to be encouraged to develop positive behaviours for learning – being organised through the use of Teams and Insight and developing independent qualities as part of their journey towards GCSEs.

Year 9 is the time when our students really examine the subjects in the curriculum with a view to selecting their GCSE options in the spring term.  A comprehensive programme of support is in place to enable students to be confident in their choices. This includes special assemblies, the Year 9 Options Evening and detailed discussions with members of staff. The 2024 GCSE options booklet can be viewed here Year 9 Options Booklet 2024

Our aim is to provide a year of stimulating and exciting learning opportunities, whilst developing the skills and competencies that will lead your child to become a confident and resilient learner and member of our community.

How do we demonstrate our values across the school?

  • We focus meticulously on the quality of education provided by pursuing excellence and by sustaining a culture that enables students and staff to excel.
  • We ensure that all relationships are based on our core values: respect, kindness, ambition, optimism and honesty. Clearly stated standards of behaviour are to be upheld by all.
  • We celebrate our differences and show respect for our community. Students understand and develop their role as active and responsible citizens and are equipped with the skills to challenge discrimination.
