Success after Sixth Form

We believe that the best university, is the best university for each individual and the course they wish to take. However, we are very proud of our students who have left Eaton Bank Sixth Form to embark upon a continuation of their studies at prestigious institutions such as Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, Warwick, Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham and York Universities, to name but a few.

Our students are exposed to the full range of options available to them for further study and employment, after they leave Eaton Bank Sixth Form. For example, in Year 12 students will attend the UCAS Discovery Event in Manchester where they are able to explore university, apprenticeship and further education opportunities. As well as this, we invite many external speakers in to share their experiences and knowledge of the next steps that our students will take to prepare them for their applications and interviews and many other aspects of adult life.

We have become experts in supporting students to undertake apprenticeships and have made excellent links with local organisations such as the Pledge and the Employment Readiness Programme to support competitive applications from our students. We are very proud of the students that have left Eaton Bank to begin apprenticeships or employment with the police, Armed Forces, Astra Zeneca, Barclays, Bentley, and within small local companies specialising in advertising, accounting and law.

All Year 12 students undertake a week of work experience, giving them the opportunity to understand what the world of work and training will look like for them, and where their passion for the future may be found. All students have access to independent careers advice via the school careers advisor and we have created bespoke resources in the form of booklets and presentations for our students that address their questions, needs and concerns, compiled over years of experience working with students and their families.

Life in the Sixth Form

We pride ourselves on the fact that every Sixth Form student at Eaton Bank receives one-to-one guidance and mentoring to help secure their success and to guide them through their applications for university and alternative career pathways.

As a result of this holistic support, our students secure places at the most competitive universities or take up sought-after apprenticeships or career progression options.

Individual curriculum areas also provide extra support and guidance, including Sixth Form dedicated use of their specialist facilities or booster classes and seminars.

Enrichment Opportunities

The enrichment opportunities on offer at Eaton Bank Sixth Form are second to none; personal development, work-related learning and leadership skills are given a high priority, given the proven positive impact this has on future lives and University applications.

Our students display an impressive social conscience and do a lot to help younger students through peer mentoring and coaching. Students also volunteer in the local community and make the most of work experience opportunities.

There really is something for everyone with EPQ, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, theatre visits, sports leadership opportunities, performing arts workshops and working with our feeder primary schools.

In addition to these regular opportunities, we also benefit from partnerships with local charities, which in turn, leads to opportunities for our Sixth Form students to take part in fundraising and charity work.

Access specialised learning facilities

Students at Eaton Bank Sixth Form benefit from a bespoke Sixth Form Centre with separate study and recreational areas, computer suite, outdoor space and coffee shop. We also have specialist art textiles and ceramics facilities, dance and drama studios, well equipped science laboratories (including two brand new state of the art labs) and sports facilities.

Enjoy yourself!

Whether it’s socialising in the Sixth Form Centre, taking part in staff v Sixth Form Dodgeball, braving fancy dress days or just relaxing over a coffee and cake, Sixth-form life makes it easy for you to develop fun and lasting friendships.
