Year 5 Science Lesson
Dr Longshaw invited Marton and District Primary School Year 5 pupils to Eaton Bank Academy to learn all about Theme Chemical & Physical changes!
The pupils started the class by looking at ice melting and a candle burning. They then moved on to dissolve three different salts; one made the temperature drop, two increased the temperature and one also gave a colour change. The Year 5 pupils then reacted acid with a metal and a carbonate and tested the gases made.
The lesson finished with some spectacular demos – Lead Iodide precipitation and the thermite reaction. Through this the pupils were able to deduce the signs of a chemical reaction and to learn that in a chemical reaction new substances are made.
We hope everyone had fun and we hope to see you all back again soon!
