Year 9 student Harrison Kasperowicz has been crowed the best individual speaker at the national ‘Up For Debate’ finals! His team mates Helena Todd and Eloise Williams also excelled, with both students placed in the top 6 individual speakers.
The team secured their place in the final by winning their regional ‘Up For Debate’ competition in April. The UK national finals were held at Queen Mary University in London, where 8 winning teams from around the UK showcased their debating skills. The topics debated were “should Britain get rid of their nuclear deterrent?”, “should the private life of politicians be protected?” and “should students be encouraged to strike for climate change?”. Harrison, Helena and Eloise performed magnificently and we are incredibly proud of the journey they have been on in this academic year.
