Talented Eaton Bank Academy artists have excelled in Congleton Rotary’s annual Young Artist Competition. The school was represented in the competition by Kate Sherman (Year 8) Georgia Watkiss (Year 8) Olivia Potts (Year 9) and Emily Green (year 12).
The theme given to the young artists was ‘Congleton’, which resulted in some inspired pieces of work, with artwork submitted featuring locations, symbols and imagery from the town.
The overall winner of the Year 7-9 age category was Olivia Potts, who created an impressive piece of art featuring the Congleton Bear drawn on a map of the local area. Within the same category Kate Sherman’s artwork also impressed the judges and was rated as ‘highly commended’.
Eaton Bank Academy art teacher Mrs Nixon was delighted with the students’ success, commenting “many of our students get involved with the Rotary Young Artist competition. They dedicate a lot of their spare time after school, working on their competition submissions. The students produced lovely pieces of work and I am obviously very pleased their efforts were rewarded.”
