Primary school students from across Congleton have benefitted from regular English and Maths workshops, delivered by specialist staff at Eaton Bank Academy over the last term.
Every Tuesday afternoon, the school has arranged transport and enjoyed hosting the students to refine their skills in both subjects through an assortment of activities ranging from solving advanced Mathematical problems to working on grammar, punctuation and spelling.
The English Workshop Sessions were concluded with a Spelling Bee competition where students were asked to spell words such as pneumatic, perceive and acquisition. The competition was won by Emily Simpson with Abbie Bowden and Finn O’Gara taking second and third place respectively.
Head of English, Mrs Knott commented: “It’s been a pleasure to welcome the students each week to take part in the English workshops. The students seem to have really enjoyed the experience and gained from it, as well as getting used to life at Eaton Bank. These workshops form part of a wider plan of working with our primary schools to help students’ transition.”
