Sixth Form and Year 10 students have enjoyed an inspiring and informative presentation by British Heart Foundation (BHF) Chief Executive Officer Simon Gillespie.
Mr Gillespie spoke to the students about his career path which has seen him gain extensive experience in senior management roles in the charity and non-profit sectors. Before joining the BHF as Chief Executive in 2013, Mr Gillespie had worked in senior roles including Chief Executive of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Head of Operations at the Healthcare Commission and was Director of Operations at the Charity Commission.
Mr Gillespie explained about the critically important work of the BHF and the developments in science which are helping to save lives. He also spoke about the importance of fundraising and how as part of the BHF’s ‘Fight for Every Heartbeat’, he runs and walks to raise money for the BHF’s work.
The visit was arranged through the ‘Speakers for Schools’ charity who work with leading experts, including some of the country’s highest achieving individuals, to provide free speakers to state schools across the UK.
