Enthusiastic young journalists from Eaton Bank Academy joined hundreds schools across the U.K for BBC School Report Day.
The BBC News ‘School Report’ gives 11-16 year-old students the chance to develop journalistic skills and make their own news reports for a real audience. The day consisted of students creating and publishing their video and text based reports on the Eaton Bank Academy Website, which the BBC then linked up to.
The Eaton Bank School Report team consisted of students from year 7 to year 10, guided by English teachers Mrs Munro and Miss Bailey. The preparation for the School report day began weeks in advance, with the students researching news topics that are important to young people and issues that impact upon their local community.
English teacher Miss Bailey commented: “the range of subjects the students have generated is really exciting and it’s great to see them work on issues they are passionate about. They have put in hours of work in their own free time to research and write up their news stories”
