A group of Year 9 English students travelled through the rain to visit the birthplace and home of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon. The students had a tour of the home where Shakespeare was born and saw where his father had run his business from selling furs and gloves to the local Tudors.
After the tour of the house, the students took part in a workshop looking at the play “Macbeth”. The students looked at the real history behind why Shakespeare wrote the play, watched actors perform key parts from Macbeth and also studied the themes and language used in the play.
All the pupils enjoyed the day and were “totally blown away” by the actors and how they made the play come to life.
