Over 100 primary school pupils have performed at Eaton Bank Academy’s ‘Let’s go to the Movies’ Dance Festival. The Year 3 and 4 pupils from Marton, Mossley, Havannah, Buglawton, Black Firs and Astbury St Mary’s schools starred in the show, with performances inspired by the world of movies and musical theatre.
Preparations started six weeks prior to the performance when Eaton Bank Academy Year 9 and 10 Dance students went into the primary schools to help run after school dance clubs. With the support of the primary schools, the Eaton Bank Academy students worked with the younger pupils to choreograph and rehearse dance routines inspired by Billy Elliot, High School Musical, Matilda, Annie, Peter Pan & Footloose. The hard work and rehearsals certainly paid off with hundreds of parents and friends enjoying two entertaining evenings of dance at Eaton Bank Academy.
Mrs Sheard commented ““It is fantastic to see so many youngsters involved in dance on our Eaton Bank Academy stage. Our GCSE students have done themselves proud from start to finish; what a fantastic opportunity for their development too. In a time where Arts in our education system is precarious, it was amazing to see so many youngsters enjoying performing dance for their friends and family, and Eaton Bank students showing flair as leaders and teachers.”
